PERSON

My name is Zara. I started Musages in the summer after my sophomore year at Deerfield Academy. Boarding school gave me the pause to think about what all was taught but also what all remained unstated. I found myself seeing that articulation is often the forgotten step of dealing with adversity. I started articulating messages in musical form that speak to the shared experiences we witness. Welcome to Musages. Won’t you join me? 

PASSION

I love words. I see them as the bridges between chaos and connection, experience and expression, music and meaning. Words are collectively used but individually sensed in our lived experiences. They bring to life our most intimate thoughts on the intricacies of both the human nature with which we are born and the universal nature in which we coexist. 

PURPOSE

Our generation faces an altered landscape transformed from the one experienced by our predecessors. The intellectual quotient our schools cultivate to develop productive contributors to society needs to be supplemented by emotional mindfulness to bridge from collective productivity to individual fulfillment. The purpose of Musages is to provide a musical stream of consciousness that showcases the shared fundamentals of human experience needed to elevate our engagement with purpose and our empathy for people. 

PLATFORM

Musages are the musical messages that compile sensory perceptions to augment mindfulness. Musages navigate the confusion of our collective conscience by inspiring clarity and coherence into our chaotic existence where meaning and understanding are increasingly intractable with the abbreviation of attention spans. 

PREMISE

Musages sit at the intersection of education, enablement, and entertainment to help with mindfulness in the face of rising levels of anxiety and depression. Mindfulness was frequently found through long form reading, but libraries and bookstores have retreating footprints and recreational long form reading has declined by 40% in the past 20 years. Musages are presented in 3 to 5 minute audiovisual digital packages that enable them to penetrate and leverage the ubiquitous control of our mobile device ecosystem.
